About Us
Could life be an emergent property of non-living molecules? How is it possible that these molecules collectively regulate one another to respond to the most diverse stimuli from the world around them? It is questions like these that drive our scientific research.
LaBiSisMi’s mission is to contribute to the understanding of microorganisms as an integrated dynamic system, seeking multi-scale quantitative models to understand their behavior, guided by Experimental Molecular Biology. Founded in 2010 by Prof. Tie Koide, LaBiSisMi seeks to adopt a multidisciplinary approach, making use of state-of-the-art Systems Biology. Our vision is that only the synergy between Mathematics, Computer Science, and Biology will be able to answer the questions that motivate our science.
